Future of Search – Knowledge Graph and Entity in Google Search

Search is one of the important part of our daily life. As we all know Google is continuously changing its search algorithm and features day by day. User search experience and online marketing changing drastically everyday. It is very interesting part of Google that, it do lots of experiments everyday.

Knowledge Graph, one of the major feature of Google which was added to Google search in 2012. The Knowledge Graph is a knowledge base used by Google to enhance its SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) with semantic-search information gathered from many sources available on web. It is very important update from Google because most of the search engine queries performed by users are related to Entities. An entity is something that exists by itself, although it need not be of material existence or entities can be defined as specific people, places, and things, including concepts.

Although it is very difficult to predict future of search but in this article I am trying to identify few interesting concepts for future in Search and SEO. On one hand where Google’s team is working hard on improvising knowledge graph feature on the hand it is also experimenting advertisements related to entity and knowledge graph. And this update is reported here in this post.

Last month I have checked some content, information and image issues in knowledge graph for some entities like “Shah Jahan” and “Virat Kohli”. It was showing wrong image for Shah Jahan who built Taj Mahal. It is showing wrong surname for Siblings of Virat Kohli, for example: Bhavna Kholi, Vikash Kholi.

So it is still a long way to go for Google in providing real time 100% authentic information in knowledge graph. Google is using many sources on web providing knowledge graph like Wikipedia, Flikr, Google Plus, Reviews websites and many more. Although I have reported the wrong information provided on these type of SERPs. Future of search is unpredictable but one thing is sure that relevant and qualitative content and information is going to play a long with Google’s SERPs.

I found many interesting things in Knoweldge Graph and one of theme is related entities. For example if I am searching “Sachin Tendulkar” It is showing me Indian Cricketers related to him. Well it is not very hard to identify “Sachin’s Profession” for Google, But it is Awesome. Now quick entity information is on my fingertip.

Many companies and brands putting hard their online marketing efforts to be knowledge graph. So if you are online marketer, SEO consultant, digital marketing expert or owner of business, brand or product or you are a famous personality, Knowledge Graph is going to play an important role in your online marketing strategies.
